In the file menu, I now have an option (greyed out) for Transfer purchases from iPod...not sure what that means given you can't currently buy stuff direct from your iPod...and pretty sure it wasn't there in Itunes 6...sounds intriguing though!
Also - there a custom option for encoding rates from CD that takes you up to 320 kbps for AAC - can't remember that either in the previous version...

You may have 18GB free HDD capacity, but Boot Camp needs the space it wants to partition in a continouos area, thus if you have 18GB free, the 10GB you want to partition might not be continouos enough for Boot Camp.
The only way to do this, would be to clone your existing Mac OS X installation onto an external HDD, then erasing the internal HDD while booted from Mac OS X on the external HDD and then cloning it all back.
Use CarbonCopyCloner (http://www.bombich.com) or SuperDuper (http://www.shirt-pocket.com/superduper/superduperdescription.html) to make a 1:1 copy.

1. Totally integrated visual sound editing, live with all the tools from Sound Track Pro. Who wants to go out to a sperate application.
Me. I'd rather have applications tailored to a single area than have one giant bloated one.
4. Of course there will be some sort of realtime compression as you continue to work. And the compression engine will be completely overhauled.
Whaddaya mean by this?
DVD Studio Pro needs a complete overhaul too and should support blu-ray authoring. Perhaps the bag of hurt is coming to Lion :-) But burners will be Thunderbolt external only, making it of use primarily to content creators protecting Apple's Digital Download model.
I think the only thing that's kept FCS's Blu-ray support limited so far is the would-be awkwardness of offering software that their driveless hardware cannot work with. I don't know where that leaves things. Perhaps Apple with pimp a third-party external drive, because I don't see them releasing an Apple-branded one.
I can't be bothered thinking up my own detailed predictions at this juncture, but I reckon if Apple pinned this release on revolutionising media management and I mean something that takes you right through the whole post-production process it'd be a gamechanger/showstopper/whatever-OTT-phrase-you-prefer.

So I was on cydia the othe rday and it told me there was an essential upgrade. so I clicked upgrade and I saw that cydia looked different. faster and new look. then a few days later it stopped working. I open cydia and if I go into sections the only section it shows is all apps and there is no apps in that folder. No search results come up. No repos, changes and nothing shows up when i choose manage. help?

It really is a simple choice. Ask yourself "Do I need portability?"

You'll want some guides to learn OpenGL, the graphics library many 2D games use.
recommend a good book? I enjoyed learning to draw and make the interaction of objects with maps and create effects eg smoke coming out of a tube ... know some tutorials or books to help me learn it?

Not surprised.... Disappointed in the lack of competition for Apple.
From what I've heard the Zune had some nice features. I think one major downfall about Zune is that you have to buy Microsoft points (that's my experience with my Xbox). That is a major pain and inconvenient. It's not simple for the user. I hated spending more money for something then I had to.

The problem is, it's not "defective", LCD manufacturers are allowed a certain amount of imperfections due to the manufacturing process. It sucks big time I know, but I don't think there is much you can do about it :(

No worries. Feel free to seek other opinions, but I reckon the i5 will do you. It's a very powerful CPU, in its own right.

Hi Macrumors,
I was wondering if it would be possible to make an "Alternate OS" thread for the tons of Android/Windows/whatever threads that pop up. Its annoying to come to mac rumors and find more Android threads then anything in the iPad section. A lot of these are nothing more than troll threads with masks on.
By creating an Alternate OS thread if people wanted to yap about Android/Windows/Etc they could go there and keep the other threads clear.

That's it, Apple decided not to sell the iPhone in its store. Only show demo units
Quote frome AppleInsider this morning: "Apple, disgusted with Rogers Wireless for dumping egregious service plans on would-be iPhone 3G buyers, has decided that its Canadian retail stores will have no part in helping the carrier market the new handset to customers"
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/07/08/spat_with_rogers_leaves_canadian_apple_stores_without_iphones.html
Will go the the Fido store and finally switch to Fido...
- billing by the second
- nights and week-ends starting earlier
etc.

Is it just the Windoze OS that's the target of the majority of virus attacks, or will the Intel inside make Macs more succeptible?

why do u hate the magic mouse so much, i love mine, only thing i dont like about it is the battery life, that sucks
Honestly, mate, I don't know where to start...
1). it's heavy. Feels like I'm dragging a brick.
2). the whole unibody thing, whereby the buttons are 'hidden', and you have 'lean' on the edges of it? Design gone mad.
3). the Apple 'gestures' that it supports? Big f**kin' deal.
4). it runs on batteries - which means that its batteries can run out.
5). start again at 1).
Horrible. I probably could've got 30 for it on eBay... but it just stank, so I gave it to my Dad, who'd just bought a Mini. He thought it stank too, and put it in a drawer.
In my opinion? Rubbish. Emperor's New Clothes: "hey, Apple-brains! Use this new piece of crap! It's rrrrrreally awesome! And only 57...!!!"
I never want to see one again, in my life.
The lack of a physical scroll wheel with detents will always deter gamers, especially those that need precision scrolling (i.e. switching between weapons).
Yeah. What he said, too.

yea i also agree top side no more than $450
if you wanted to sell it, and some laptop extras and that will help its value (like an extra battery and a case or such)
i have the exact same laptop (im on it right now)
its one of the best built

I notice that the fingers in the diagram look small. A little research shows the average male index finger dip joint (last joint at the finger) is about 1cm long. Doing some quick calculations, assuming ANYTHING in the diagram is to scale, the device seems to be about 7" tall. The current Ipod is 4.1" tall. Also, the diagram shows the ability to add to playlist, which leads me to believe it is more than an ipod... perhaps I am completely wrong, of course

Thinner than the incase book jacket but lighter than the yoobao slim. It's a nice mix of both.

This will be great with a Mac Mini and once they get a final release. I hope, if this reaches a good enough release stage, that perhaps Apple could sell it on their website or whatever.
