Well it is time for me to upgrade my current system to better work with leopard.
I'm looking to buy a Powerbook g4 Aluminum with the following minimum specs:
1.5ghz g4
512mb ram
80gb hard drive
superdrive
15"
Screen must have no imperfections and I would prefer a machine with no dents.
I would also prefer a working battery and the original box, but we'll see what I get offered.
In addition to the powerbook I would like to purchase an IBM thinkpad for work. Minimum specs below:
IBM T40,41,42, or 43
256mb ram
40gb hard drive
DVD-ROM
No dead pixels/dents
Working battery
If you have another brand of PC that is not IBM contact me anyway and I'll see if that particular model would work for me.
Let me know what you have to offer, either in a PM or posting a reply to this thread. Thanks!

Thank you for this great site. I'm new here and have a question about VPN.
If I enable VPN to get the cablevision app working will the ipad always use VPN for all data? Meaning will anything I do on the ipad be transferred through my home computer and network?

Make sure you're using iTunes 4. Anything before that doesn't support AAC files. Once you have iTunes 4, go into the preferences, under the Importing button and choose AAC. As for the track names, it's not iTunes that recognizes it or not, it's the CDDB, a database which is accessed over the internet, meaning that your computer must be connected to the internet for it to pull up track titles and such. Good luck.

I'm hoping the single player is better than Halo 3's at least.
That is a VERY low bar to set, so you shouldn't have much trouble topping it.

I'm going to be heading down to BB on 2100 South in a few. Are you (alfmoonspace) still the only lonely person in line?
I'm driving in from Battle Mountain, NV, I'll be to BB in under a hour.

OMG! That would be awesome - a phone that's a GPS Navigation that you could load where you're going in the phone with relevant picture pointers 'you are now passing MacDonalds on your right handside' and picture flashes up on your phone of the location taken by another user of Googlemaps... while you're driving in the car...
That's way more than I thought the iPhone would be... if it is the iPhone.
If it is then Apple will have pulled another 'miracle of modern technologies' off!
I think this is good thing!

Yeah, but if I run Darwin on x86 or PPC, it doesn't matter. The OS is handling the memory allocation and such.

i haven't actually chosen the TV yet, will be a 42" HD LCD is all i know for sure.
i am not worried about an incredible frame rate or anything, i only get 15 FPS now! but i was told that using DVI to TV will actually cause WoW to crash. i am not sure why, but that is the word on the warcraft board, so i thought i would see if anyone else had experience there.
i am not sure if this is an issue only with the intel machines, or only with DVI, if perhaps component works, etc, that is why i am looking for other experiences.
...i hope they update the mini soon, i am ready to buy, and the mini is due a refresh. ;-)
That's odd. For fun I hooked my comp up to my projector through DVI so my older brother could enjoy some ridiculously large WoW and it worked without issue. It was running from a G5 though, so I have no idea if it's just a an issue with the mini's.

You might want to start by reading this (http://www.thesitewizard.com/archive/creditcards.shtml) and googling a bit more around to get up to speed about this.
I'm only a beginner in these things, but accepting creditcards of your own, you do need to be PCI DSS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payment_Card_Industry_Data_Security_Standard) compliant methinks.
Paypal or Google ? Why not both ?
IMHO you would be best developing the website with a payment gateway, and let the thirdparty take care of processing the creditcards / paypal / google checkout.
Especially if you are not yet clear about the whole setup and how it will work.
From what I read in your post, setting up the website, using a shopping cart, linking in to the payment gateway and generating the receipts : that seems like a big piece of work if you develop that yourself - to me it sounds like magento or another e-commerce solution could do most of what you need.

besides the great Success Apple has had these court proceedings vs Samsung is going to be costly EITHER way.
Q: Samsung lawsuit?
A: We are samsung's largest customer. Samsung is a very valued component supplier for us. We felt the mobile division of Samsung has cross the line and have had to now rely on the courts.
It's HIGH time Apple boost internal knowledge and production from chip source Intrinsity or look to the big dogs:
Texas Instruments: Big Dog
NVidia: strong roll-out giving the Big Dog a run for its colar.
Freescale: great at low power consumption yet they need to innovate (former division of Motorola's PowerPC department)
etc.

I found this article interesting after not finding my iPad 2 today at my BB.
http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/best-buy-shrinks-big-box-grow/
"The company will be focusing on key consumer products such as mobile phones, tablets, gaming (possibly used games), and is looking to channel the savings from cuts into small-format stores."
Im no market or admin guy but I wonder if smaller stores means less chances of having Apple booths in them?? Or am I looking at it the wrong way?

Unfortunately, Apple ditched their development on ZFS, so no ZFS love for the Mac Pro and OS X.
If you chose FreeBSD or OpenSolaris, there is little point in buying a Pro in the first place as you can get better boxes for less for that kind of requirement.
Funny thing, as I am running ZFS as we speak on my Mac Pro and several servers.
If you clicked the link I provided you could even download it and install it in Mac OS X ;)
Also ZFS is returning big time for Mac OS X come June/July with a full up-to-date implementation of ZFS, called ZFS-410 by Ten's Complement LLC (http://tenscomplement.com/).
Ironically, one of the engineers behind ZFS-410 was the technical lead behind the original HFS+ filesystem and one of the persons porting ZFS to Mac OS X until Apple ditched it. You can find a good read about it here (http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2011/03/how-zfs-is-slowly-making-its-way-to-mac-os-x.ars)

I worked the show yesterday and I swear on the way to the restroom or getting something to eat I saw a few people with Intuit shirts walking in the other direction. So they had a booth somewhere.

Does it have a self-assigned IP when it drops out?
If so, try renaming your wireless network. This has fixed this issue a number of times for me recently.

Next to go: WP7.

Temp is quite normal (it's about 60 C). Card is dying slowly IMHO. At the end it will just stop giving video. I've replaced few 6600s with similar symptoms.
New thermal paste won't hurt ofc, but I doubt it will solve the problem.

Can someone explain to me why it passes 30 minutes of memory testing on Techtools Pro software but freezes once in while on handbrake video encoding and always on the backup???
Software-based memory tests are unreliable. The system is testing while running on the same memory controller and modules. Proper tests require dedicated hardware like THIS (http://www.memorytesters.com/).
