Any update on the line? Don't feel like harassing the poor people running the phone at the store.

Hello all!
So here is my dilemma, I'm connecting an iPad to a mac mini via an app called Screens which uses VNC. When a computer is connected via VNC it doesn't want to go to sleep or activate screensaver. Well I need that to happen. I found a workaround in an app called PowerManager, which has a function that states "run script after ___ amount of inactivity, and it works and starts the screensaver even while connected to VNC! but it is $50 and I have to put it on multiple machines. I only need this one function, so I was hoping to write an applescript that basically does the following,
after 8min of inactivity run screensaver.app
and that script obviously has to be running continuously.
So yeah, any help would be much appreciated, I haven't done too much scripting but I can follow instructions.
Thank you!

If I remember correctly, you should rebuild the LS database (the equivalent of rebuilding the desktop is OS 9). Download Panther Cache Cleaner, and it has an option to do so. That should fix it (correct me if I am wrong).

Finally. I'll be testing it tonight and posting a full report. The 0.10 version was where I started and that had ISSUES... but the .11 has been almost flawless. I'll go grab 0.12.

Creating a website which will preview CD albums by offering mp3 samples.. Is there any software out there which will automatically create these samples for you? I saw some posts about creating an itunes script which can perhaps do this but I have no experience with it. A nice bonus would be to have the fade in fade out added to the start and end of the sample.
thanks!

This is what you need: http://sox.sourceforge.net/Docs/Features
It's a command line sound editor and converter. It's been around "forever" and is very mature and powerfull.

And it yours is now beaten by the post pics of your celebrity crushes.
Although I do believe it was the thread that cause the most number of users online (Most users ever online was 24,892, 28/08/2008 at 23:47) due to it reaching the front page of Yahoo, a feat that will be hard to beat.
So perhaps time to change that sig ;)
I do like the link to the history though and the fact above that it will be a very very hard task to beat the number of people flocking to the site at once.

I plan on picking on up pretty soon. I just didn't want it to be updated right after I buy the current model. I plan on using this monitor for awhile.

I would like to post it in the DUC but i do not know what that is. BUt yes Pro tools LE 8 took up 100 gig's until i deleted it. It included the files for the one project i was working on. Yes i mean 100GB.
DUC is the Digidesign User Conference at http://duc.digidesign.com/
With all due respect, I don't think PT le itself took up 100 gig. I know you say that figure also includes the files for the project you are or were working on, but still...... Must have been a lot of tracks of recorded audio at high sample rates and bit depths. Also, disk space is cheap - 1 terabyte drives can be had for around $100.

You can either replace the internal hard drive, but that's quite difficult. Or you could simply buy an external hard drive. You can get 2tb for under 100 now.

I can't seem to wake my 2010 15" MBP from sleep with the trackpad using Lion DP2. I have to press the keypad.
Anyone else having the same problem? Is this normal? Any fixes?
thanks

If the cameraman forgets that they're already live, that happens. I wouldn't really blame the cameraman since their show is so early.. :D

Hi all
I am constructing a Web page in Dreamweaver CS4 and I have placed the banner and buttons on the side. How does one insert a scrolling text area in the centre of the page? For a noob like me, because when I try to do it it places one in between or under a button and not where I want it.
Thanks again for any input. :D
David
I'm assuming that you mean you just created a blank HTML page and then inserted a banner graphic and then some "buttons" without any CSS or table elements.
You will need either CSS or a Table to hold the banner and the buttons and the text area if you want to have anything other than just a stack of elements running down the left side of the page. Dreamweaver has a number of predefined templates you can play around with when you create a new page.

One would hope that they'd update it by the middle of the year, but they did take about 19 months between the 07 and the early 09 Mac Minis, so if that's anything to go by, though unlikely it's possible the next update could be as late as early next year.
DarthMoops any Mac currently sold by Apple is called a new Mac even if it hasn't been updated for 18 months, it's still called a new Mac.

I'm looking to get a network drive enclosure for a hard drive I have right now. I'm looking specifically for an enclosure I can access from many computers hooked up to the same router.
I currently have a hard drive, but it may be dying, so if you have an enclosure with a drive that has 100GB+ of space on it... we can deal!
Keep in mind, I don't wanna spend over $100, and that's the absolute highest I'm able to go, so I'd rather pay less.
Please post here if you think you might have what I need.
