I was considering selling my powermac g4 and was wondering what i could get for the system. Its a 733 quicksilver 384mb ram, 2 40gb hard drives, and comes with a wireless keyboard, original black pro keyboard and mouse, and dell 15" lcd monitor. What could I get for it on here and on ebay. It is running tiger. Its a cd-rw
I would say around $500-$750 USD. Check out eBay and see what similar systems go for. :)

Looking for a good, but cheap, dock with speakers for an iPhone/iPod. This would be used on the deck, at the beach, etc...
Thanks!!

I have a mac pro desktop that has recently stopped working. I can turn it on, the white apple logo will appear, it will begin loading the OS, but when the loading is complete and I should see the login screen, the screen just goes black. I have tried everything;
- swap out memory with known working sticks
- PRAM reset
- SMC reset
- Graphics card swap
- Pulled all hard drives
- tried loading boot disk (load then blank screen)
- etc etc
If there is no boot drive, the usual question mark folder will appear, I can boot in verbose, but no errors or warnings appear, i can boot into single user mode, and browse directories, but no OS will load!
Anyone seen this before? and can possibly help?

Would you happen to have a couple of the rubber feet for a 15" powerbook?

I forgot all about MacTel! PowerCC was the big one back then. Better specs than any Mac at the time with the 66Mhz bus. Mine has a bad SCSI drive, though, and won't boot up anymore. :(

I think this thread topic is stupid especially given the similar thread in the feedback sub forum.

If there is no output from the external then it could be that video card is failing. You will know that the inverter is faulty if the apple logo on the lid is not turning on.
If the screen is black and there is output on the external port then it might be that you have a poor LVDS connection or the cable is faulty.

I think they are gone now but what price were they going for? I am just too curious haha.
I think when I looked earlier they were $1699.

Did you download the free upgrade to PT 8.0.4? I have an Mbox 2 Pro hooked up to a new MBP using a FW 400-800 cable, and it worked fine after I upgraded PT to 8.04. I didn't have to do any "stuff in the firmware folder" (what exactly did you do, anyway?).

It could be an issue with the HDD holding your home folder. Did you try re installing OSX to a different drive?

Hey folks, my friends iPod Classic 80gb 6th Generation iPod has a crappy distorted sound when tunes are played from it.
He sent it away to get fixed thinking it would be the headphone jack that was the problem - they got back to him and said that it was the Logic board at fault, and charged over 79.99 +VAT for this repair.
When it came back, all seemed to work okay, except a very short battery life.
A week later, the iPod froze with no backlight (the menu was still visible but not reacting to any button presses)
Nothing happened when the charger was plugged in, so we held the Menu Button + the Select button, and it rebooted successfully however the orginal problem came back of distorted sound....:-(
Very unhappy as 79.99 was a lot to pay for it be broken again so soon.
Can anyone shed any light onto why this may of happened?
Was he right by saying it was the logic board at fault?
Cheers
James

I already have the hard drives connected to the PS3, and all my movies play off it, but, is there any way for me to access the hard drives through the network that the PS3 and Macbook pro are both connected on? sort of like a Media server

The original Ninja Gaiden was amazing. I even liked the sequels a lot too. To be honest, though, I lost some interest in it when it started going 3D. There's a lot to be said for 2D, don't give up on it developers!

You just need to insert your Snow Leopard install disc to install the drivers for your hardware. Everything should be groovy after you do that.

For quite some time ago NeXT Information Archive was sadly forced to close down because it was hacked ( again ) and the previous owner simply had enough of it all. We all lost a great place for finding information regarding these systems which today is still very much alive and kicing under the hood of Mac OS X.
If you don't seem to recall NeXT Information Archive, it can perhaps help your mind going if we inform you, that it was the guys who brought you stuff like the NeXTSTEP / OpenStep 4 beta video, aswell as the video where Steve Jobs, in person, demos NeXTSTEP 3.0 on his NeXT computer.
Today I'm proud to announce that NeXT Information Archive is back and not just for a small amount of time. We've freshen ourself up and is taking new goals to once again continue as the number 1 place for all your NeXT information. In the progress we thought that a name change was the way to go so from this day on NeXT Information Archive is now NeXT Archive - this is simply because we don't just deal with information anymore but actually provide the things directly to your computer. Forum, files, knowledge - it's all there... just click in at http://www.nextarchive.net
Remember that much of the NeXT stuff is still present in Mac OS X and it never hurts to know your OS well.
