Mine stops working if the computer is not restarted for around 40 days. It also has the issue intermittently while connecting to different hardware, sending a video to my xbox 360. The video will play for about 10 minutes then stop. This problem is fixed with a reboot but will then only stream for 10 minutes before stopping again.

Hi,
I just bought the new PB15 HD and have followed all the threads about the display issue with big interest. Mine has the horizontal lines as well although not as pronounced as the ones I saw in the Apple store.
If I dont see anything about a fix before the end of the week I will send it back to Amazon since I dont want a screen that is not perfect. Maybe it is my imagination but it does not seem as sharp to me as I expected. Although still better than the iBook ones.
Today I noticed something though that might give another hint as to the origin of the horizontal lines problem.
When looking at the discussions pages at Apple support and scrolling very slowly the lines between the posting flicker substantially. I have not noticed this on any other cmputer so it tells me that something is up with this one.
It is almost perfect otherwise, gives me over 4 hours of use (realistic use) and has no dead pixels. But I dont want to settle for a less than perfect screen regardless. Then I'd rather take my chanses on the next revision.
Any ideas if the flickering lines could be related to refreshrate which would also explain the horizontal lines or is it just that the faint grey lines makes the horizontal line issue more evident?
Thanks

hardware problems can and often are intermittent, especially with electronics due to heat causing failed connections to expand and contract, making the issue intermittent.

My Casio watch does that and for some reason there's still a bit of a delay while it turns back on. However, I don't know whether it's something inherent to the technology or whether it's just an implementation issue.
My G-Shock does that too. Thought it was buggy. Also, I find that it comes on faster when there is light around. In the dark/low light I have to wait for it to pop on then hit the light button on the side.
I have a GX56 for what it's worth.

Ok, so no worries with the BIOS not liking say, a 500GB hard drive?

Interesting...Then somebody could theoretically obtain a product or probably only a serial illegally and just make a phone call to Apple and register it on his name...
That is not a safe system.

I could be completely wrong, but it might refer to the case color having a shiny flake in the plastic. Like glitter. Think of a car paint job with shiny metallic flecks of glittery shimmers in it.
I know speck has made cases like that in the past. I could be off base though.

this has happened to me too. it occurs when your mac connects with an open wifi connection, like my neighbor's, and their mac is turned on too. They probably can also see your name too. make sure wifi is turned off, or see if you can change settings so it doesnt connect to the first open wifi it finds.
the first time this happened to me, their mac was open to sharing too. I started listening to some of their music in itunes. I thought it was cool, until i realized they might be looking at my files too, so i turned everything off

If you buy now, you most likely have to buy Lion at full price. If you wait till WWDC and buy after that, you may be eligible for up-to-date promo which means you can buy the upgrade for 10$ (assuming there will be more details on Lion in WWDC).

Why did Apple get rid of the Apple on the command key? It was way cooler than it just saying "command" like a Windows computer...

Okay, that partiucular error message hints that your shell isn't finding the mysqladmin command.
Can you do
cd /Applications/MAMP/bin/mysql4/bin
ls
... and make sure that you're in the right place and mysqladmin is present?
(you could instead add /Applications/MAMP/bin/mysql4/bin to your $PATH for convenience)

install on the Mini, then carbon copy cloner to the Xserve.
then to keep it legal, delete it from the mini.

I have about a dozen of those, and the local computer recycling shop always has a bunch in their "$1 mouse pads" bin. I don't imagine they're very rare or valuable.

Sorry for the noob question...but I can't find out how to connect my iMacs cd drive to my MacBook air so that I can install a program... Thanx for the help!!!
The installation discs that come with Macs are model-specific and are not for use on other models.

Someone could skim your card or mug you when your out buying it from a shop.
There is no risk buying online from apple, if by a multi billion to one chance something went wrong your bank or apple would refund you. Your just being paranoid.

The Mac should detect the HDMI device as an HDTV, and offer you resolutions of 720p, 1080i, and/or 1080p. If you select one of the specific "HD" resolutions, and not random other resolutions (even the seemingly identical 1280x720 and 1920x1080!) it should work.
Also, make sure your refresh rate is 60 or 30 Hz.
Indeed it does! The issue seemed to be that at somepoint the machinations we had put the signal through had made it "dumb," i.e. the Mac didn't recognize it's BlackMagic Intensity Pro as as "broadcast" resolution device. However I am now stuck at the next phase, getting Blackmagic Intensity Pro into SKYPE.
However, I can confirm now that WireCast (the software we are using for the output from the PC) does recognize the connection and says "BMD HDMI".
The video comes into Blackmagic Media Express... (1080i 60)
HOWEVER -- I still cannot get it to show up in e2eSoft VCam or Skype (under the "Decklink" option) for both.
Do you know why it is being so picky?

Why are all of you getting so mad that the MacBook Air doesnt have this, this. All of us expected all these things, it is like me saying, "i want the green apple!" and getting the green apple "HEY! i thought it was RED!"
So stop whining about that it does not have these things, most of you sayd that you werent going to get it anyway!
Although i wish it did have these I am ok without them.

I'm on a MBP 13", C2D 2,4 Ghz, 128 gb SSD.
I noticed improved boot time between SL and Lion, and since the latest DP2 update I went from ~22 sec boot to ~17 sec. Seems like this is something the boys in Cupertino takes seriously, and I like it!
I clock the time from pushing the power button until the OS is loaded and wifi has connected.
How big of a difference is you guys noticing, if any?
