When I am done with edit projects I pull them from my RAID and archive them to drives via a docking station (can't afford LTO at the moment). Depending on the project they could be anywhere from 100G to ~2TB. Most are in the 300G-1TB range. So, I buy 2TB drives and put multiple projects on them.
Here's my problem, I am building up a stack of drives and don't really KNOW what is on each one. I mean I have a rough idea but I'm not sure. Example... I worked on 2 seasons of the same show and we used the same music. To save space I deleted all the music files from one of the project folders because I don't need all that music twice. But I forgot which one I did it to and since they were a year apart they are on separate drives. Not a big deal but I would like to streamline so I'm not popping drives in randomly for no reason if I need to access something.
So, to make a long story longer, I am looking for cataloging software that will create a database of all files in all folders of each drive. I need this to be searchable so I can just pop it open, type in a name and it will show me what drive and the path to that file. Anyone know of a good solution?
Thanks

You didn't connect it via a toslink with optical cable from headphone jack? Sounds like you're just double amping which is inefficient.

it said that Final Cut Pro was using about 30-40% :confused:
And the rest of the processes? Did al processes accumulate to 100/200%?

What the seller probably meant is that it won't actually boot in a standard Windows PC, which would be correct.
But a Mac Pro running Windows via Bootcamp, different story.

Anyone try any cases by this company? I was recently given a free test unit, and I was surprised at the quality of the fit. It's a silicon case, but a very firm silicon, and is a much better fit than the Switcheasy Colors case. All the buttons are covered, too. It's a pretty nice case, I'd say it's definitely nicer than Switcheasy's, which disappoints me.

Water + power cords = failure (generally).
It may have been ok had you let it sit longer than an hour, but you did not and it is likely fried. Check monoprice if you're the US and buy another. Next time wipe it with a cloth. How dirty could it have been that you would feel compelled to wash it?

NSDictionary is it. objectForKey: tells you if there's an object stored with the specified key.
That's excellent, but how come the documentation makes no mention of this function?
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Cocoa/Reference/Foundation/Classes/NSMutableDictionary_Class/Reference/Reference.html
Is there any documentation that lists ALL the functions?
Thanks.

I get electric shocks from my Powerbook G4 15" all the time - however, you may find that it only happens when its plugged in to the mains power for recharging. Check your plug to make sure its earthed, if its not, try an earthed plug and see if it makes a difference. Hope this helps:) .

make sure you add the applicationServices framework then use
double idleTime;
idleTime = CGEventSourceSecondsSinceLastEventType(kCGEventSourceStateHIDSystemState, kCGAnyInputEventType);
This will give you the time in seconds that the system has been idle.

Correct. Just speculation but it appears obvious.
AirPlay and AirPrint are iOS features. AirDrop follows the same nomenclature, it's a pretty good guess that iOS 5 will use AirDrop to drop files into Mac's and other iOS devices.

I got handbrake, but I don't see the option to customize the resolution. I'm probably just over looking it.
That would be under the big 'picture settings' button at the top.

haha yes i think so too :D
Thanks for all your replies :)
Having got this exact setup it does have a use, and that is you can just stretch the MagSafe so that if you leave your MacBook on top of the computer you can use that as a charger (I use it so I dont have to ferret about for my MacBook Airs charger). But the cable isnt long enough to leave the MagSafe on the desk unless you have the Mac Pro on the desk (which is a shame).

Hi,
My iMac G5 20" Rev. B ir experiencing so called "pixel-dancing". In essence, that is when bunch of pixels flash and dissapear randomly mostly on black or dark colors.
It seems to be not so common problem, at least google didn't find anything what can help me.
Anyhow, the "pixel-dancing" starts usually when iMac been runing for half an hour or so, but then again, it's not regular - sometimes it happens, sometimes it's not, though it seems to happen more often when wathing movies for some period of time (at this point iMac is running about 70 C in fullscreen mode) or working in Photoshop. As I mentioned before, it only happens with solid black, or dark colors.
It's really annoying. I contacted our Apple reseller, they suggested to do full time Apple Hardware test - did that, all items passed sucessfully. Anyway, reseller contacted Apple and now is waiting for an answer, so in the meantime, maybe you guys could help? Any solutions, causes or fixes?
I made a small video clip showing the problem, here (http://www.ksp.lv/tmp/imacg520inch_blinking_pixels_02.mov). It's about 30 MB. Sorry about the quality, but the "pixel-dance" is clearly visible. In the video that is Photoshop, with an picture of skating ramp.
Thanks a lot.

With the hard drive going and the lack of more memory, I think you can get around $400. Maybe a little more since she has all the original accessories and box. Good luck! :apple:
