The dump command runs as root. Do you actually run the database as root with all file owned by root? Most people would make a special user just for the databse. If you are setup like that then perhaps you should run the dump as that user.
I don't use mysql but other DBMSes will refuse to run under root as that is to dangerous
I don't intend to run the dump command as a root, but was kinda using the root account while I was testing all the backup commands to make sure things don't get the permission issue.
The weird thing is that the script worked just find from command line, but did nothing from the cronjob.

Also, what exactly is 'innacurate' with my thread?
Well, considering you don't seem to understand that once your income is taxed, it is yours to keep, until you choose to spend it, at which time you might owe sales or use taxes.
Your fundamental misunderstanding of how taxes work makes this poll silly. You think taxes are imposed on what you've earned, when point of fact, the cost of doing business (i.e. earning money) is the tax rate, and you get to keep everything post-taxes.
I'm not aware of any income "tax" on your accumulated wealth. Any such tax would not be an "income" tax.
Exactly, taxes are the price you pay for living in a stable society, therefore those who society has allowed to become rich owe some of that back to society in order to give other people the chance to succeed.
And 5P, if people are really able to become wealthy without government providing regulation and a stable, secure environment then why doesn't Somalia have any Billionaires? It's basically your no government paradise.
Actually, I don't care how much money they have after taxes, or if they are able to accumulate billions, but I think those who have high incomes, should pay a higher tax rate, and I think we need to reform our estate tax system to eliminate the floor (or dramatically reduce it), and increase the tax rates to something closer to ordinary income.

I worked the show yesterday and I swear on the way to the restroom or getting something to eat I saw a few people with Intuit shirts walking in the other direction. So they had a booth somewhere.

I notice that the fingers in the diagram look small. A little research shows the average male index finger dip joint (last joint at the finger) is about 1cm long. Doing some quick calculations, assuming ANYTHING in the diagram is to scale, the device seems to be about 7" tall. The current Ipod is 4.1" tall. Also, the diagram shows the ability to add to playlist, which leads me to believe it is more than an ipod... perhaps I am completely wrong, of course
One of the things that I hear people complaining about frequently is the inability to manage their playlists on the go. Sound crazy to me, it seems like doing it on the computer is just always going to be so much easier, but to each their own. Of course, if you were ever going to cut the umbilical cord and free the iPod from its computer dependence, something like this would be essential.

Well, sleeping it should be better than keeping it running because only the RAM will be powered when sleeping. When the parts are not powered, the risk of failure is smaller. In the end, all electronics have a limited lifespan. Of course, if you have a reason to leave it running then it is different (e.g. downloading something).
Personally, my iMac is always on when I am at home and awake. When I leave home or go to sleep, I sleep my iMac. Same goes for my MBA but it is sleeping unless I'm using it.

That doesn't mean it will be unusable.
This is not always true, this is what Snow Leapord was about. Performance, footprint, and constant overhead, are now requirements for all operating systems as performance upgrades are lesser and more expensive to come by.

Sorry let me clarify, I'm @ BB in SLC. There is just me here, well my chair and me. At 4PM they give you a ticket so you don't have to wait in line for the last hour. So stupid.
Do they have a clue on stock? Best Buy in SLC may be a good backup if the Gateway gets too overrun.

I am shocked to see how popular these are becoming. Personally if I got one it would only be an addition to my computers not a replacement for my MBP. Like having the optical drive at my leisure and the better computing power. But then again I do working the IT field. I could easily see how they meet the average consumers needs. None the less I want one.
Lot's of people don't really need an MBP. People who actually need more power than a Core2Duo and discrete graphics are in a very tiny minority when just about the only uses everyone and their grandma have are content consumption such as facebook, mini games, or maybe the occasional email(if you want to count that as creation).

The i7 won't be better at running that game. As a result, either get a 15" MBP if you want to do serious gaming or just go with the i5.

Yeah, Steve did only say 802.11 which strikes me as odd, but why would they use n in the set top box, when all of the current Macs have g? I don't see Apple telling everyone who just bought a new Mac "too bad"
Unless recent Macs have 802.11n which just needs a firmware update to unlock it.

I can't believe AT&T still won't unlock iPhones: In the UK, O2 will unlock anyone's contract phone for free (you just need to ask), and a PAYG one for 15 (plus the loss of the free web bolt on you get for the first 12 months).AT&T still is the exclusive GSM carrier in this country. Nobody knows how long this exclusivity will last. Since AT&T purchased T-Mobile, AT&T has no motivation to unlock the phone. Since our politicians have been bought off by lobbyists from Verizon, AT&T, etc., there's no motivation to advance our interests.
Jailbreaking doesn't unlock it and many iPhone 4's cannot currently be exploit unlocked.+1 Too many ignorant people don't understand that jb is dependent on the iOS, while unlocking is dependent on the baseband.

Ya I've tried it on other systems and all works good. I seem to really be the only person having this problem the administrator said. Everything else I try to do works good as well, I mean websites. Have you ever heard of this happening before to other sites?

Tried it and hated it. I'll keep with MX 2004 until they release an update to speed things up. Of course, I never have been one to work well with new versions. I just upgraded to Tiger today :D
Is this app safe to uninstall by just deleting the folder? The installation thing makes me wary of just trashing it, for there may be other files somewhere...

Nobody knows. We will likely know when Steve plans next years Macworld. If it is at SF, there is a good chance it will always be at SF.
Next year's MacWorld is already set. It's a week later than this year's - but it's in the same place (Moscone West, SF).

I like the mba, but they are so god awful slow. Maybe im just used to fast computers but no way i could use current gen of mba. Maybe next time but 6 year old tech is a bit to old for me.There are quite a few know-all heads on here who will disagree with you and tell you you are in the minority and call you a spec freak.
The SSD and form factor is the selling point of the current MBA. For most people's uses it's ok, or even "faster than their other macs" as they claim, people selling their iMacs and going MBA only and what not.
I understand it's "cool" and "wow" and turns heads (who doesn't want to show off with a cool gadget after all) and it gets the basic job done. My claim is that the 11" MBA is not significantly faster in loading applications than my iMac and awful slow in processor intensive tasks. The system startup showdown is basically useless demonstration - how the system performs afterwards is more important. What's important also is that it works for a large number of people.
The rest of us who form "the minority" and need greater power in that small package should drink a glass of hot water. We are not catered for. Yet.

If you look closely, Anandtech refers to a MacRumors thread that we started here 2 months ago. That said, the Samsung drive does appear to be a nice silent upgrade for those lucky enough to get it.
Any statistics available for those who have one vs the other by any chance?

I assume that we are only talking about a reciever component at this time?
If that is the case, then a $2,000 reciever would have to have every conceivable bell and whistle to garner that price. By that I mean support for THX Ultra and/or THX Select audio and support for Dolby Digital EX standards, auto-adjustment to sound level determined by a user-defined seating position in relation to the speaker placement (a'la Bose Lifestyles systems), and somewhere in the neighborhood of a million possible sound sources (an exaggeration to be sure, but you get my point.)
I would welcome a reciever with all of these features rolled into one, and might be willing to shell out the cash to get one, but unless it does everything, Apple compatibility will not be enough to justify such a high price.

Also on a side note... your breadcrumb at the top of the forum page is broken in FireFox. The "trigger box" for the "MacRumors Forums" link is a huge box that overlays the next few items in the breadcrumb. Essentially, making the neighboring links useless because it would fire the "MacRumors Forums" link instead.
This is an issue with one of your Firefox extensions.
As for the breadcrumbs, we noticed they went missing after we updated the forums last week, but it wasn't something we consciously changed. We'll see if there's anything we can do to bring them back.

Just to clarify, the VPN server is a router or the Mac Pro?
The VPN server is an AVM 7270 router/modem/voip box.
So you think she has to manually connect to the ip adress of my MacPro to be able to download files remotely?
How would I do this? Is it done in Finder somewhere?
